Sabbasige Bassaru(Dil Leaves,Moong dal Rasam&Dry Dish)

Bassaru(in kannada) is a kind of rasam made by water collected from veggies.
It is 2 in 1 recipe for me. From this recipe we get rasam as well as dry side dish.
Have tried to explain in detail and i must say worth making it.
Its easy,yummy and most important healthy :). Who does not love healthy and yummy recipe?

Serves:4
Ingredients:

1 bunch/1 cup Dil Leaves(Sabbasige Soppu)
1.5 cup Green Moong Dal
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
4 cup water

Rasam(Bassaru):
1 tsp cumin seeds
4 garlic chopped
1 medium onion chopped roughly
1 Tbsp grated coconut(I used fresh coconut)
2 tsp mustard seeds
10 curry leaves
1 Tbsp sambar powder(instead u can use 1/2 Tbsp coriander powder + 1/2 Tbsp cumin powder)
1 Tbsp Tamarind extract
2 tsp Red chilli powder
1 tomato chopped finely(for rasam)
Coriander leaves to garnish
Salt for taste

Dry dish:
2 tsp mustard seeds
2 tsp urad dal
2 green chillies
1 medium onion chopped roughly
1 Tbsp grated coconut
Salt for taste

Method:
1.Soak Green Moong Dal for atleast 4 hours.I soak it day before. so that i get nice sprouts.
2.Chop Dil leaves finely.
3.Now cook Green Moong Dal and Dil Leaves with turmeric and water in pressure cooker for 3 whistle.
4.Till pressure cooker cools down, chop onions,tomato and keep all the ingredients ready.
5.Now seperate pressure cooked dal mix(moong dal+dil leaves) and veg stock in strainer and keep both aside.

Now lets make rasam (Bassaru)
Method: 
1.Heat oil in a pan.Add cumin seeds.When it splutters add garlic pods and saute for 30 seconds.
2.Add onion and saute till golden brown.switch off.let it cool for 2 minutes.
3.Once it cools,make smooth paste of this along with 3 Tbsp of cooked dal mix and grated coconut, 2 Tbsp water. Keep remaining dal mix for dry dish.

4.Heat oil in a pan, Saute mustard, curry leaves.
5.Add dal cooked water(veg stock) and cook for 5 minutes.
6.Add paste made in step 3,tamarind extract,sambar powder and chilli powder .
7.When it starts boiling add tomatoes.

8. Add salt according to taste.
9.Add finely chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
 Rasam is ready..

Now lets make veg side dish
Method:
1.Heat oil in a pan, saute mustard seeds and urad dal.
2.When it crackles add green chillies and onion and saute till it turns golden brown.

3.Now add cooked dil leaves and Moong Dal mix and saute for 2 minutes on a medium flame.
4. Add salt according to taste.
5.Add 1 table spoon grated coconut and saute for 1 more minute and sim for few minutes.

Dry dish is ready.

Enjoy rasam with rice/raagi mudde and dry dish with chapati/roti.
